Human Rights Council

President:

Hello delegates! My name is Bill Cheng and it is my absolute pleasure to be serving as the head chair of the middle school committee for HASMUN IV. Looking back at HASMUN III, it’s come to my attention that the delegates of this year's conference who have also attended the previous HASMUN have really refined their public speaking abilities with an expanded vocabulary containing advanced terminology and exuding a newfound sense of confidence. Seeing these delegates grow over these recent couple of short months and take on positions of leadership is just heartwarming. Aside from MUN, I thoroughly enjoy physical activities which range from team sports to lifting weights at the gym and binging on TV shows on Netflix. In the past month, I finished seasons 1-7 of Brooklyn 99, at times watching multiple episodes a day. To all the delegates attending HASMUN IV, I wish you all the best of luck and I look forward to seeing the improvements you guys have made within these short months. Most importantly, feel free to approach me if you have any questions. I will be very happy to answer any!

Deputy President:

Hi delegates, I’m Sophie Su, a freshman at HAS, and it is my honor to join you as a chair of the Human Rights Council in HASMUN IV! HASMUN IV is the first conference I’m entering as a chair, and it has been about 3 years since I first joined Model United N. I have learned a lot through my journey of MUN including making friends, learning about politics, different countries in the world, and so on. I joined MUN because I was interested in what MUN was all about and also because many of my friends joined as well. My advice for the delegates joining MUN for the first time is to be confident and don’t be afraid to make mistakes! Aside from MUN, I enjoy playing video games, dancing ballet, drawing, and plenty of other entertainment. I look forward to seeing you guys in HASMUNIV! If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

General Assembly 4 (Special Political and Decolonisation)

Chair:

atulya.JPG

Good day delegates! I am Atulya Mittal, a junior at Hsinchu American School, and it is my privilege to serve as the head chair of General Assembly-4 for HASMUN IV. I went to my first Model United Nations conference during my sophomore year of high school and it was unlike any event I had participated prior. The flow of the debate through speeches and points of information, the recruitment of allies during lobbying along with the critique and breakdown of the most intricate details of a policy in a resolution during the conference sparked excitement and drew me into this event. These conferences have helped build my character through means of social interaction with the unique personalities that are present in a committee, development of critical thinking to analyse a particular issue within a short time limit through means of crisis during a meeting and, most importantly, opening my horizons to the global issues that plague various countries across the world and methods to spread awareness about these issues to combat them. I hope that each one of you delegates are also able to have a meaningful experience at all your MUN conferences. Apart from MUN, I enjoy reading comic books, hiking and trying out new cuisines. I look forward to seeing all of you in May!

Co-Chair:

Hello delegates, I am Tim Chen. It is a great honor for me to be your chair of the General Assembly 4. I am a freshman at HAS. I’ve joined Model United Nations for 2 years as a delegate, and this is the first conference I would be joining as a chair. Joining MUN has taught me a lot of things. It has taught me how to think critically when solving problems. Also, it gave me a chance to participate in international issues. It has taught me many important skills such as making friends, researching, communicating, and teamworking. I joined MUN because it provides me valuable experiences and opportunities to see many people and learn from them. Well, it also gives me valuable memories. Besides MUN-related stuff, I like to play videogames, watching videos on TV, YouTube, etc, and eating fast food. If you have any questions, you can come to ask me; even though I might not be as helpful as you expected. Good luck with your future conferences and see you in HASMUN IV!
